The Ukrainian military received a new MV-25 OSKAR loitering munition, developed by the French company KNDS France in collaboration with DELAIR and EOS Technologie.
This modern French drone belongs to the MATARIS line, which includes several models with different flight ranges and purposes.
The developers note that the MV-25 OSKAR has already received positive feedback from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its development and implementation took only two years, and the first combat tests took place in June 2024.
“MV-25 OSKAR: Operational in Ukraine. Only two years passed between the start of development and operational deployment in Ukraine. Selected under the COLIBRI project launched by the French Defense Innovation Agency (AID) in 2022, the MV-25 OSKAR was test-flown with a live warhead in June 2024. Excellent feedback from the Ukrainian armed forces and the French Army’s adoption of the MX-10 DAMOCLES establish KNDS and DELAIR as major players in this new MTO segment.”
The OSKAR drone is designed to engage infantry and lightly armored vehicles. It is equipped with a 550-gram high-explosive fragmentation warhead and is capable of operating at a distance of up to 25 km, remaining in the air for up to 45 minutes.
The MV-25 OSKAR is easy to deploy and does not require a runway or prepared terrain. The device has low radar visibility and uses an interference-resistant data transmission channel, which allows it to navigate in the absence of a satellite signal.
“The MV-25 OSKAR is an anti-personnel and anti-light vehicle loitering munition used for short-range operations developed by DELAIR and fitted with KNDS’s warhead. The MV-25 OSKAR is based on a fixed-wing design made of a special ruggedized polystyrene material. It brings a 550g explosive incendiary fragmentation warhead over a distance of up to 25 km, with a flight endurance of 45 minutes.”
Now French OSCAR drones help the Ukrainian military to repel Russian attacks along the front frontline and strike invaders’ targets.
It was also recently reported that French car manufacturer Renault is in talks with the French Ministry of Defense about producing drones in Ukraine. Renault has not yet made a decision, as it awaits additional details from the French ministry following the negotiations.
According to some reports, Renault will cooperate with a small defense industry company to establish drone production in Ukraine, dozens or hundreds of kilometers from the front line. Both the Ukrainian and French armed forces are reportedly planning to use these drones.
