Denmark will provide Ukraine with military aid worth more than $210 million as part of a new support package.
On Tuesday, the Danish government and the relevant parliamentary committee agreed on the details of a new, 28th military aid package for Ukraine. The total amount is 1.4 billion Danish kroner, or $217 million.
It is noted that the new military aid package to Ukraine includes additional funding for the “Danish model” (weapons production in Ukraine) in the amount of 100 million kroner. Denmark is allocating an additional 370 million kroner to the PURL initiative – the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine – and 80 million kroner for fuel, which will be purchased through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen noted that this support package was made possible by the Danish model and the PURL initiative. With this aid package, Denmark has provided Ukraine with a number of decisive combat capabilities in the coming months.
Denmark announced the previous, 27th military aid package to Ukraine worth approximately 2.6 billion Danish kroner ($407 million) in September.
With the latest package, Denmark has announced a total of nearly 71 billion kroner in aid to Ukraine from 2022. Some of the aid has already been provided. Some will be provided in the future.
However, no matter how large this amount may seem to the average citizen, it is not enough. It would be enough if the Ukrainian military could drive Russian troops out of their territory. But at the moment, the Russians continue to capture new villages and small towns. Yes, it is happening slowly. Yes, the Russians are suffering huge losses. Yes, Ukrainians are heroically defending themselves against a formidable enemy. However, there are constant retreats.
Some European Union countries and Canada are helping Ukraine. As for the US, military support has significantly decreased under President Trump. On the contrary, Russia is being helped by all the countries of the Axis of Evil — Belarus, North Korea, Iran, and China. Therefore, the front line is moving westward.
How long will the Ukrainians hold out? And will the citizens of the European Union go into battle when all Ukrainians are dead and we have no one left to provide financial and military assistance to?
