On Sunday, Putin continued his provocations against NATO countries. This time, he sent an Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over the southern part of the Baltic Sea in international airspace. From an altitude of ten kilometers, this aircraft is capable of detecting the location of all NATO air defense systems. In addition, the Russian aircraft flew with its signal turned off and did not provide a flight plan.
Sweden and Germany were forced to scramble aircraft to intercept the Russian “reconnaissance” aircraft over the Baltic. Germany scrambled two Eurofighter jets, and the Scandinavian country scrambled a pair of Gripen fighters. This was reported by the Associated Press news agency.
The German Air Force noted that the fighters were the first to “track” the Russian aircraft, after which they handed over surveillance to Swedish fighters on duty and returned to their base in Rostock.
This incident is one of the links in Putin’s systematic efforts to discredit NATO as an alliance capable of defending itself.
Earlier, Russian UAVs launched a massive attack on Poland, and before they were shot down, some managed to fly hundreds of kilometers.
On Friday, September 19, three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered Estonian airspace over the Gulf of Finland without permission and flew there for 12 minutes.
On the same day, two fighter jets flew over the Polish drilling platform Petrobaltic in the Baltic Sea, violating its security zone.
A number of European countries called this incident a deliberate Russian provocation. US President Donald Trump refused to condemn Russia’s actions. In doing so, he gave Putin indirect approval for these and subsequent actions. Is this part of a plan agreed upon in Alaska?
It is not in the interests of us Europeans to enter into open war with Russia. This would result in a certain number of casualties and huge financial costs. It is in our interests to provide Ukrainians with everything they need as quickly as possible! When Ukrainians shoot down all of Putin’s planes, he will have nothing left to provoke NATO with.
