On the night of June 17, Russian troops unleashed another act of terror against the Ukrainian civilians. Russian invaders cynically shelled the Ukrainian capital with drones and missiles, destroying many residential buildings and killing many people. Putin’s troops struck 27 different locations.
As of 9 a.m., 14 people were known to have been killed and 99 injured following the Russian attack on Kyiv, according to the Kyiv City Administration. However, efforts to clear the rubble were still ongoing, local media reported.
Among the locations attacked were critical infrastructure facilities, educational institutions, and residential buildings.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a total of more than 440 drones and 32 missiles were launched across Ukraine.
“This was one of the most devastating strikes on Kyiv. Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions were also attacked during the night,” Zelenskyy said.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, more than 40 apartments were destroyed.
“There may be people under the rubble. We do not rule out that the death toll may rise,” the Kyiv mayor said.
The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, said that the Russians use air attacks to terrorize Kyiv.
“Last night in Kyiv and its suburbs, the enemy used 175 drones, more than 14 cruise missiles, and at least two ballistic missiles,” he said.
In the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv, a part of a high-rise residential building was entirely destroyed. Terrifying footage of the first minutes after the strike was shared online.
A Russian missile destroyed the entire entrance to a high-rise building. According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, the missile strike was so powerful that it passed through all nine floors of the residential building.
“Rescue workers, police, and medics are working to help the victims, clear the rubble, and save lives,” the Ukrainian minister said.
Mr. Klymenko added that six more people were injured in the Odesa region and one person each in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
These horrible strikes testify that Trump’s peace initiatives have not yielded results, and Russian troops continue their methods of terror, launching missile and drone strikes on residential buildings in Ukraine, killing innocent civilians.
