Czechia has delivered over a million large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that thanks to the country’s initiative to supply ammunition, Ukraine has already received over a million large-caliber shells this year.

During a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, Fiala spoke about the country’s achievement in the initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine. Novinky quotes his statement.

“I can also announce that to date, through the Czech Ammunition Initiative, we have already delivered one million pieces of large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine this year,” Fiala added.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has previously thanked the Czech Republic for the ammunition initiative. In the second half of July in Berlin, at a press conference after meeting with Fiala, he described the Czech ammunition initiative as “exemplary” assistance to Ukraine. According to him, Germany is contributing to it “out of conviction.”

The Coalition of the Willing is a group of states that actively support Ukraine in its fight against aggression. These countries often coordinate the supply of weapons, training of Ukrainian soldiers, and other forms of assistance outside the framework of broader international structures such as NATO or the EU.

In addition, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala highly appreciated the coordination of positions with US President Donald Trump and welcomed the fact that US Vice President J.D. Vance also took part in the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing for the first time.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also long appreciated the assistance. “I thanked the Czech Republic for all the support it has provided to Ukraine, especially for the Czech initiative to supply artillery to our fighters. The helped save many lives and strengthen our positions. Through force, we are moving towards reliable security. “Thank you!” Zelenskyy wrote on the X network last week.

Former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) has long been opposed to the initiative. About a month ago, he told Reuters that the ANO-led government would cancel the Czech ammunition initiative if it wins the autumn elections. He said the initiative is non-transparent, “overpriced,” and “molded.”

The coalition talks were preceded by a video conference of European leaders with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump.

The leaders discussed the upcoming meeting between the US president and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Alaska. After the conference, they agreed that the final solution to the war in Ukraine must be reached with Ukraine at the negotiating table.

In April, the Czech initiative has enough resources to ensure monthly supplies of ammunition to Ukraine until September 2025. Recall that the Czech Republic is also part of the coalition of drones for Ukraine.
