Orbán claims that Russia is not a threat to NATO, despite the war against Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán does not see a real military threat from Russia to NATO countries, as it has proved unable to even achieve its goals in Ukraine, but at the same time he said that Ukraine is “losing the war.” He said this in an interview with French LCI.

Orbán, known for past pro-Kremlin statements and anti-Ukrainian stances, stubbornly denies the reality of the ongoing war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, stating that he is not afraid of the Russian-Ukrainian war expanding into a global one.

“The Russians are too weak for that. They can’t even defeat Ukraine, so they can’t really attack NATO,” he claimed.

At the same time, in response to another question, Orban said that Ukraine is “losing the war” and that real negotiations to end it will be between Russia and the US.

“Neither Europe nor Ukraine will be able to reach an agreement with Russia. Ukraine because it is losing the war, and Europe because it is too involved in it. There needs to be an agreement between the Russians and the Americans,” said the Hungarian prime minister.

In the past, Orbán has said that Ukraine’s Western partners are “creating the threat of World War III” with their talk of a potential military contingent.

Orbán also attempted to associate Ukraine’s “impossibility” of joining the EU with its “inability” to join NATO.

Despite the previous intimidation by pro-Moscow politicians in Europe, no actions, such as the sinking of the Moskva or the destruction of Russian strategic bombers by Ukrainian drones, have resulted in disaster. On the contrary, they have brought Russia closer to abandoning its war efforts.
